Botzakis S.A. was founded in 1995 by the Botzakis Brothers, Giorgos, Vasilis and later John. They had already been in the olive oil trade since 1989, following the long tradition of olive oil production in Crete. Botzakis S.A. has been supplying important European firms with cretan extra-virgin olive oil. Currently Botzakis S.A. owns a state-of-the-art, vertically organized production plant in Alagni, Heraklion, Crete.

The company is certified by DIO, the Inspection & Certification Organisation of Organic Products under the EEC Reg 2092/91 and by BIO HELLAS, members of IFOAM, regarding the preserving, packing & labeling of agricultural products. The company is also cerftified by USDNA/NOP Final Rules. Botzakis S.A. is also certified to apply P.D.O. (Protected Designation of Origin) production procedure in accordance to EU regulation 1107/96.

The company is also certified with ISO9001/2000 and HACCP.
